From EPC E to A: How Evotech Is Leading by Example on World Environment Day

At Evotech, sustainability is more than a corporate responsibility, it is a principle that shapes the way we support our clients, manage our operations, and invest in the future. As we mark World Environment Day, we are proud to reflect on the practical steps we take every day to help reduce environmental impact across the built environment.

Helping Clients Reduce Energy Consumption and Carbon Emissions

Through intelligent building solutions such as myBEMS, developed by our Technical Services Division, we help organisations gain greater visibility and control of their building’s performance. By monitoring, analysing and optimising building systems, our clients can reduce energy consumption, improve operational efficiency and lower carbon emissions across their estates. This in turn allows them to make significant cost savings and helps them to reach their own sustainability goals.

Data-driven building management allows organisations to make informed decisions that support both sustainability objectives and long-term cost savings. From HVAC optimisation to plant performance monitoring, our engineering teams work closely with customers to ensure systems are operating as efficiently as possible.

Sustainability Through Service Delivery

Environmental responsibility is embedded within our service approach. During planned maintenance visits, our engineers continually assess and optimise plant performance to ensure equipment is operating at peak efficiency. Small adjustments to controls, setpoints and operating strategies can deliver significant energy savings over time whilst maintaining occupant comfort and system reliability.

We also utilise vehicle telematics technology across our fleet operations, enabling smarter route planning, reduced travel time and improved fuel efficiency. By minimising unnecessary journeys and optimising engineer deployment, we continue to reduce our operational carbon footprint whilst maintaining high levels of service for our customers.

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we are progressively transitioning towards an electric vehicle fleet, helping to reduce emissions associated with business travel and supporting the UK's wider net zero ambitions and we are proud to say that our management fleet is 100 percent electric and our operations fleet is now 20 percent electric and rising.

Leading by Example

We believe sustainability starts at home and as part of our continued commitment to environmental responsibility, we recently completed the refurbishment of our Elland office, incorporating a hybrid Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system designed to improve both energy efficiency and indoor air quality. In addition, we installed solar photovoltaic (PV) panels to generate renewable energy on-site and further reduce our operational carbon footprint.

The project has successfully improved the building's Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating from E to A, significantly reducing the environmental impact of our operations and creating a healthier, more efficient workplace for our colleagues.

Creating Smarter, More Sustainable Buildings

World Environment Day serves as an important reminder that meaningful environmental progress is achieved through practical improvements, innovative technology and long-term commitment.

As our towns and cities continue to experience the effects of rising temperatures and the urban heat island effect, we all have a responsibility to design, maintain and operate buildings more efficiently, helping to reduce energy demand, lower emissions and create healthier, cooler environments for future generations.

Through intelligent building controls, energy-efficient maintenance strategies, fleet optimisation, and investment in sustainable facilities, Evotech remains committed to helping create smarter, more sustainable buildings for the future - today.

Together, we can reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions and build a more sustainable tomorrow.
